FAQs

Who are we?

NHS Professionals is run by the NHS, for the NHS.

NHS Professionals (NHSP), owned by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), works in partnership with hospital trusts to provide a bank of highly skilled temporary workers who want to work flexibly within the NHS. Working through the NHSP bank means trusts can access a fully integrated temporary staffing solution that offers robust training, governance and career opportunities for bank workers and helps to ensure the continuity of care for their patients.

Right now, we have over 130,000 members registered on our bank from various roles, grades and specialities, saving the NHS over £70 million each year. This money is then reinvested back into the NHS. We serve Acute, Mental Health and Community Trusts across England, along with Social Enterprises.

What's changing?

NHSP has been invited by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, to take over the day-to-day management of the Trust’s temporary staffing needs for Nursing from 11th November 2019; other staff groups will follow, dates to be confirmed.

Once you have successfully completed the NHSP bank registration process you can start booking your first shift using our smart booking platform, My:Bank. Designed with a simple interface, My:Bank can be accessed on your smartphone, tablet or laptop, making it easy for you to book shifts on the go, submit timesheets and view your payslips from the dashboard.

Why is it changing?

The Trust currently has no dedicated temporary staffing team and with plans to relocate some services to multiple sites across Cheshire and Merseyside it is expected that there will be an increase in the demand for a flexible workforce.

When will the changes happen?

The service is expected to be up and running by 11th November 2019 for nurses. The online shift booking system (My:Bank) will go-live 28th October 2019. The full NHSP service for provision and management of Nursing staff will go-live 11th November 2019.

What rates of pay do we pay?

For workers that transfer their bank worker agreement to NHSP the current bank pay rate will be protected as of the NHSP service go live date, in the spirit of the Cabinet Office Statement of Practice. The Trust will provide NHSP with your existing bank pay rates to enable NHSP to continue with your existing pay rate moving forward.

How will I get paid?

NHSP runs a weekly payroll. Once you have joined the NHSP bank you can start booking shifts using our smart booking platform, My:Bank. Designed with a simple interface, you can also release timesheets and view your payslips. Timesheets released by 23:59 on a Sunday will get paid on the Friday.

How can you continue to work through the bank?

If you are an existing bank worker, it is important that you attend one of the Meet&Greet sessions (dates are to be confirmed) to continue to book and work bank shifts after. Once you have successfully completed the NHSP bank registration process you will receive a login and password for My:Bank, which will allow you to view and book
